About Team 4435
Posted on December 21st, 2009 under Race Information4435 Racing made our debut as Team Viking and finished 1st place in the Ultra4 class at the 2009 BITD Vegas to Reno: The Long Way. It was the first time the race was a 3 day 1000 mile course as well as the first time rock crawlers were allowed to compete in the event. Our vehicle was the only one to successfully complete all 3 days of this grueling race.
Ultra4 is a newly created race class for unlimited 4 wheel-drive endurance vehicles. These vehicles are a hybrid of rock crawling and desert racing machines: these vehicles excel at events such as the King of the Hammers race. By completing all 3 days of Vegas to Reno, 4435 Racing is qualified as a competitor and fully intends to compete in this years King of the Hammers 2010 event.
The vehicle was fabricated and is driven by Kevin Sacalas, 26, of Riverside, CA. Kevin has 5+ years of off road driving experience in a heavily modified TJ, and years of quad and dirt bike riding prior to owning his first rock crawling vehicle. The 4435 race vehicle was Kevin’s first attempt at designing a vehicle from scratch. Kevin drove all 1000 miles of the race with Douglas Williams, 32, of Redlands, CA assisting as co-driver. In addition to Kevin and Doug, our team is comprised of a crew of approximately 12 dedicated off road enthusiasts that are united by their passion for rock crawling. Every member of our team is highly visible and active within the off road community. Our team members are involved with multiple off road clubs
and associations including: Cal4WD, CORVA, Rubicon Owners of California, Inland Empire 4 Wheel Drive Club, San Bernardino Adopt-A-Trail program, Jeep Jamboree, Big Bear 4 Wheel Drive Club and cast from the On the Rocks TV Show.
Our Vision:
It is our goal to continue to race competitively in the new and evolving Ultra4 class through 2010 and into the future. We are dedicated to designing and developing a rock crawling machine that can also withstand the challenges of desert racing. 4435 Racing intends to compete in King of the Hammers 2010 as well as race in 3 additional ultra4 class races once the 2010 schedule is announced. We intend to prove that Vegas to Reno was not just beginners luck. It is our goal to race competitively and consistently throughout the 2010 race season.
Our Partnership with Sponsors:
Since winning Vegas to Reno, we have received significant press from the Off Road community regarding our accomplishment. Please see the enclosed reference sheet for a complete listing of media that have highlighted our vehicle, our win, our team and of course, our sponsors. The amateur rock crawling community has reached out to us to share their excitement. They are encouraged by our ability to compete and win against vehicles with significantly larger commercial sponsorship. Our fan base is eager to see what parts we are using and how they hold up against the “big dogs” of our class.
We are currently seeking sponsorship from vendors who would like their products showcased by our vehicle, our highly visible team, and our web site. Please see the enclosed reference sheet for the list of our current sponsor partnerships. If you’d like to discuss sponsorship with us further, we’d love to have you as part of our team!
